CT is a measurement of the estimated effectiveness of chlorine in drinking water to inactivate parasites. CT is the product of the disinfection concentration and the time of contact. The higher the actual CT value, the greater the ability of the disinfection to inactivate parasites. The graphs can be read to compare the actual CT versus the required CT (CTa/CTr). If this is greater than 1.0, then there is sufficient contact time to inactivate 99.9% of the Giardia present.
