  Turbidity Results

Turbidity is a standard indicator of the clarity of water. It is a measurement of the amount of light that refracts when a beam of light is extended through a column of water. The higher the amount of light that is refracted, the higher the turbidity reading. The Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality require that a level of less than 1.0 NTU (turbidity units) be maintained at all times in domestic water systems. A turbidity of up to 5.0 NTU may occur over very short periods of time and may be acceptable, provided that disinfection is not compromised.
